Bata will always, always have a special place in our hearts for being a reliable source of all-white canvas shoes throughout our formal schooling years. Mary-janes, sneakers, those ubiquitous velcro straps – whatever our primary school style was, Bata had something for us.
It might have been a running joke that Bata was an acronym for “Buy And Throw Away”, but we insist that Bata shoes were always reliable, usually lasting us years. Now that we’re all grown up, Bata shoes might not have a spot in our shoe cupboards any longer… until now.
Turns out that Bata actually made basketball shoes for a NBA team in Baltimore, USA, back in 1964. This is the inspiration behind the relaunched Bata Bullets, made up of the original white high-top style, now with navy, white on white, and black on black variations, in both high and low-cut options.
After seeing this collection, we’re definitely acknowledging Bata as a classic sneaker brand. And one that is actually really cool.
Bata Bullets, from $70 for low-cut styles and from $80 for high-cut styles. Available at Actually at #03-18 orchardgateway. actually.sg
