[Contest] Try Out SK-II’s New Whitening Line At This SK-II x NYLON #AuraGoals Party

The often elusive promise of good skin’s a lot easier when you’ve got a trusted brand on your side. And, fortunately, we’ve got many to choose from, whether they’re from America, Europe, Korea, Japan or a homegrown label. But today, we’re talking about one brand that has transcended borders, a truly global one that unites people as diverse as Hollywood actress Cate Blanchett, Tang Wei and Kim Hee-Ae, all known for crystal-clear skin. And that’s SK-II.

And fresh from their innovative labs come two new whitening products, improvements on the long-existing Cellumination range, based on the discovery of “skin clouds”. Basically, more UV exposure causes damage to the skin, in the form of visible changes such as dark spots and a dull skin tone — a combination of these effects clouds the skin, and the “skin clouds” gather to prevent our skin’s radiance from shining through. Through their research, SK-II has identified three types of skin clouds; brownish clouds represent hidden spots, grey clouds represent pigmentation, while red clouds represent increased hemoglobin, or a dull tone. The only way to counter that, it seems, are with these advanced SK-II products.

GenOptics Aura Essence 50ml

SK-II GenOptics Aura Essence, $299 (50ml)

This contains two new ingredients — Prunus Extract and Inositol. The former, when combined with Pitera and an active whitening ingredient, appropriately deals with sun damage and melanin production within our skin, while Inositol increases clarity in cells. The formula is light enough to go deep into our skin, and deliver the ingredients where they’re needed. What we should see after eight weeks are lesser age spots and pigmentation, and overall brighter skin.

GenOptics Spot Essence 50ml

SK-II GenOptics Spot Essence, $274 (50ml)

This serum contains another new ingredient, Lumina Kelp Extract, making it an upgrade from the Whitening Power Spots Specialist. What this does in the targeted treatment is that it works hand in hand with SK-II’s main whitening active ingredient, the D-Melano P3C, to inhibit melanin production so we’ll see less spots, and prevent future ones, over time.
