It’s a huge year for Vans. 2016 marks the brand’s 50th anniversary, and they’re going big with their celebrations. Over the past week, Vans has hosted skateboarders, creative individuals, musicians and purveyors of street fashion in their “House of Vans”, an event across 10 cities that commemorated their 50 years of “Off The Wall” heritage in action sports, art, music and street culture. Musicians like Wu-Tang Clan, Jamie XX and Yeasayer took to the stage at night, while fans attended DIY workshops, checked out exhibitions by their local artists and watched a skateboarding competition during the day. As part of its 50-year anniversary, they’ve also released a swanky new Gold Pack Special Edition Footwear and Apparel Collection to commemorate this milestone. This 22-piece collection features iconic silhouettes like the Authentic, Classic Slip-On, Era 59, Old Skool and Sk8-Hi Reissue that are bedecked with gold embellishments. Also, to honour the brand’s design legacy, you’ll see emblems like the checkerboard, the Sidestripe and Duke Kahanamoku’s vintage aloha pattern across the entire collection. Shoes aside, the golden theme continues in the apparel and accessories as well. You can expect pocket tees and tank tops, as well as the 50th Zip Front Fleece, two 50th 6-Panel Snapback, the Old Skool 50th Backpack and the Realm Backpack, that have been dressed up with gold accents.
