With the recent premiere of the fourth season of Orphan Black, the one thing on our minds is – how can we dress like the five clone leads? All right, not really; we’ve obviously got a lot more going on trying to catch up and all, but it’s still a recurring wonder at how one actress can inhabit five entirely different personas. Without further ado, here’s our five leading ladies and how you can achieve their signature looks.
Sarah Manning
1. Jeans, Rag & Bone
2. Tank, Haider Ackermann
3. Gloves, Jill Sander
4. Leather Jacket, Saint Laurent
5. Shoes, Balenciaga
Badass mofo clone? Check. Where would nimble Sarah Manning be without her staple leather jacket and general all-black attire, which certainly signal her daring street smarts and con artist stealth. Switch out her wax-coated black pants for trendy black skinnies with knee rips, for a look that’s more everyday-appropriate and less Teenage Spy.
Alison Hendrix
1. Jacket, Banana Republic
2. Top, Pepper & Mayne
3. Polo, Stella McCartney
4. Joggers, Uniqlo
5. Shades, Chloé
6. Coat, Moncler
Nail the Slightly Psychotic Soccer Mom look with a classic aryan wool cardi and straight leg jeans, or level up to a homemaker-appropriate puffy down coat for the colder months – guaranteed roomy enough to hide all your darkest secrets. But if you’d prefer to actually make Alison’s look wearable, polos and conservatively cut tops in cream shades or Alison’s favourite blush pink work; remember to pair with comfy bottoms your own mother would approve of.
Cosima Niehaus
1. Top, Acne Studios
2. Dress, Raey
3. Scarf, Alexander McQueen
4. Bag, Balenciaga
5. Ring, Gucci
6. Cuff, Valentino
Boho-chic Cosima seems to be seen exclusively in burgundy tones and aztec prints, which somehow work brilliantly against her dreadlocks and geeky black frames. The West Coast-born biology student sure likes her accessories, so pile it on with an effortlessly cool Alexander McQueen scarf and clunky arm candy.
Helena
1. Blouse, Jiles
2. Parka, Mr & Mrs Italy
3. Dress, Rochas
4. Shirt, Bottega Women
5. Boots, Isabel Marant
6. Stiletto Boots, Vetements
We’ll leave you to OD on red eyeshadow for that insane sleepless beauty look, but otherwise it’s pretty easy to recreate the Ukrainian-raised clone’s general style. Think gingham checks, gaudy florals, and Victorian style white lace and ruffles – and that iconic green parka with a faux fur hood, of course.
Rachel Duncan
1. Dress, Bimba Y Lola
2. Blazer, Jill Sander
3. Shirt, Haider Ackermann
4. Skirt, MaxMara
5. Clutch, Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci
6. Heels, Christian Louboutin
And finally, dressing like the ruthless, no-nonsense hard-ass that is Rachel Duncan. Hide your mummy issues with a polished power pantsuit and neatly tailored co-ordinates – so clean and sharp they’ll literally cut you. And as cutthroat as Rachel may be, her taste for quality and the finer things in life will leave you admiring her impeccable dress sense, right down to the slick black stiletto Louboutins.
