Never underestimate the collective power of diehard sneakerheads. In a sneaker-centric move that’s about as 21st Century as it can get, a brand new multi-label sneaker and lifestyle concept store is opening in Singapore – the “concept” being anything and everything social media.
Aptly named, The Social Foot is all about creating a unique in-store experience catered to the modern, socially-engaged consumer. For one, the store is built with creating a space for the sneaker community to come together in mind. The interior fixtures are modular in design, which means the store can be easily moved around and transformed into an intimate event space or pop-up installation at any time. An impressive 3D mural of sneakers on the wall features a variety of classic sneaker brands – Adidas, Reebok Classic, Puma, New Balance, Onitsuka Tiger and more – all of which sit on unbranded shelves, so you’ll get a more fulfilling experience browsing and discovering sneakers from different brands on your own.
There’s also a nifty social corner tucked at the back of the store, where shoppers can pose against a photo wall and create their own GIFs to share on their social media accounts. Dying for a few minutes of fame? The store will even project your GIF onto the screen at the storefront window.
And if you weren’t already enticed by the selection of brands available, another great name is making its Singapore debut exclusively at The Social Foot – PRO-Keds may be intended originally as a basketball shoes, but has been worn by athletes, musicians, and style icons worldwide. You’ll find the shoe familiar – it has a Converse-style silhouette but with the more rounded, friendlier finish of a Keds shoe. The PRO-Keds Royal series ($89 to $99) will be available in both Hi and Lo cut versions; we’ve got our money down it’s gonna be the next ‘it’ shoe. If you’ve got a sizeable sneaker collection yourself, you’re due for a trip down to The Social Foot.
The Social Foot, Orchard Central #01-19/20, opening hours: 11am – 9.30pm.
