While it may sound like an oxymoron, make no mistake about the trend known as “Vintage Tech” – it’s definitely on the rise, and for good reason. The polished chrome exteriors of our current gadgets are cool and all, but sometimes, you just want to time-travel and surround yourself with that “retro” vibe. That’s why Lamch & Co. are launching their Heritage II series, combining the homey look of the stereos of the 1950s with high-tech functions such as Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone compatibility.
The Heritage II Connect and Heritage II Portable speakers are manufactured by Goodmans, a household name in home entertainment since the 1920s in the UK. Deep rich audio is delivered through a combination of high quality speaker drivers and a real wooden cabinet, while multiple equaliser settings let you adjust the music to your tastes.
While iPhones are great and all, their maximum volume setting tends to be barely audible above the din of a party. Not too great for livening up the mood. That’s why the Heritage II Portable Digital Radio promises to deliver the best sound, anytime, anywhere. Enclosed in a compact real wood veneer wooden cabinet in piano white or in natural wood, and powered by a high capacity rechargeable battery of 5000mAh for up to 10 hours of undisrupted playback on 24W high power stereo speakers, say “bye bye” to awkward dinner conversations over drop-dead silence.
For those of us who prefer good ol’ radio, the Heritage II Connect is here for you. Encased in real wood veneer, each radio is unique and different in design. But its nostalgic vintage exterior has also been modernised, boasting a crisp sound quality that is supported by 36W high power stereo speakers, a digital amplifier and built-in DSP (Digital Signal Processing). The large 2.7-inch OLED screen allows for clear display and ease to navigate functions – it’s definitely an advanced radio, but it’s equally user-friendly.
The best part? Both the Heritage II Connect and Heritage II Portable speakers have digital radio functions, enhanced with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functions that enable multi-room, multi-zone connected audio playback. You can even use the Bluetooth with NFC function to pair up a maximum of seven Heritage II speakers with compatible NFC smart devices, all with a simple tap on your UNDOK app. This also includes individual volume and master group volume controls, so your guests don’t have to crowd into your living room for the atmosphere.
Compatible with both Apple and Android devices, the UNDOK app also allows you to control the Heritage II speakers via Wi- Fi from your smart device. Not only can you access and stream music from your PC, you can also select from up to 16,000 internet radio stations from all over the world through build-in internet radio. There’s even Spotify Connect compatibility (yes!), so the Heritage II speakers will enable you to stream over 30 million tracks directly from your Spotify app across your home Wi-Fi network.
The future is here, and it sure looks snazzy.
Heritage II Connect and Heritage II Portable speakers, $599 – $699, available at all Anté stores.
