Vans and Nintendo Team Up For A Super Nostalgic Collection

Talk about a major throwback! Remember all those days when your parents would nag at you for spending too much time playing games like Mario, The Legend of Zelda and Donkey Kong? Those days are so far behind us but the fond memories and attachment to a simpler time will stay with us forever. This season, Vans will be pulling at our heartstrings to bring us a special collaboration collection of footwear, apparel and accessories with the Japanese video game company to celebrate those early days of video games. The collection will see exclusive graphic prints using 8-bit inspired artwork of familiar characters and an assortment inspired by Nintendo’s first console, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).

The Vans x Nintendo Classic footwear collection kicks off with four variations of the Authentic silhouette with various characters in the limelight. Tie-Dye will feature a print of Mario along with the iconic “power-ups”, and the villainous Goomba over an 8-bit tie-dye pattern. The original damsel in distress, Princess Peach, appears on another iteration while the hunting dog and flying duck from Duck Hunt comes to life over a digi-camo backdrop. The last colourway pay homage to Donkey Kong and incorporates imagery from its first level, presenting the character in a floral arrangement. Van’s Classic Slip-On also gets a throwback treatment with graphics and quotes from The Legend of Zelda while the sidestriped trio of the Sk8-Hi, Old School and Sk8-Hi Slim takes visual cues from the NES.

The Vans x Nintendo Collection, $55-$119. Available for both kids and adults from 15 June at all Vans Singapore store (including the Raffles City outlet that opens on 24 June).
