Hideously clichéd, and ever-so-generic, cheesy stock photos are a tad bit difficult to take seriously, especially if you’re a creative professional. Which is why Adobe’s new limited edition, stock photo-inspired clothing line is all the more hilarious to look at.
The cheeky apparel collection has designs that range from “Mature business man with boxing gloves fighting co-worker” to “smiling seniors using laptop”. If that doesn’t draw a chuckle from you, there’s a t-shirt with “Laughing woman eating healthy vegetable salad” emblazoned right on its front. Amusing, indeed.
The clothing line is part of a direct marketing campaign coined up by Adobe to promote its premium collection of royalty-free images, with Swedish ad agency Abby Priest the brains behind the campaign.
“Some stock images have earned their place in the history books. Classic motifs that have been overused and established as hilarious clichés, known, loved and/or hated by all,” said Abby Priest creative director Oskar Hellqvist in a Q&A on Adobe’s site.
“Turning them into a limited edition clothing line is our way to salute them and an attempt to create something disruptive and unconventional in the genre. The creative community already shares the knowledge and power/humour that is embedded in these images. Hopefully it’s something that they will enjoy and wear,” he continues.
Unfortunately, these clothes are not for sale to the public, and they’re only available for a select audience, so you probably won’t see them in your department store anytime soon. Still, if you’re up for stock image-lovin’, you can always sign up for a free trial at stock.adobe.com.
