Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke – a statement usually applicable to things in general. What we’re glad it’s not applicable to, however, is the iconic ck one fragrance that has captured the imagination of entire generations since its launch way back in 1994. Then, it started off with a minimalist and deliberately androgynous bottle design and a fresh and intentionally unisex scent; yet it’s undergone mini makeovers down through the years with various special editions of the ck one. While the bottle and scent varied subtly with each iteration, the essence of the ck one was never lost, just reinterpreted in different intriguing ways.

It’s evident that each version has been a collector’s item; we’ve amassed quite a few of these bottles ourselves. But it’s this latest 2016 edition that has captured our hearts like no other ck one has yet – you’ll see what we mean when you see the bottle:
Each version of the ck one speaks to the generation of that time, and it’s never been as obvious as this time, with the ck one GOLD. Opulence is the theme here, with the recognisable bottle coated in a reflective gold that’s left “dripping” towards the bottom. You might have caught the reference to the Midas touch – causing everything you lay hands on to turn to gold – which we think is something that will resonate with the ambitious millennials of today who create success with their own hands; also, it’s simply too damn aesthetically-pleasing.
Like the bottle, the scent on the inside isn’t made to blend in; fig, jasmine and vetiver come together in an unusual layered mix that’s all at once fresh, floral and woody, to come across intriguing and confident. And yes, it’s unisex of course, because everyone deserves to smell so bold. Plus, how good will this look on your vanity table?
