J.Crew pays homage to the iconic Breton stripe from the 50s and 60s with an exclusive capsule collection featuring a clean iteration of oxford dresses, trench coats, crew neck sweaters, sneakers, and a stunning shearling stole. The timeless European and American motif captures the zeitgeist of the 1950s, and is fondly reminiscent of the style of Hollywood actresses back in the golden age. The zesty and fun capsule, which is in collaboration with Net-A-Porter, surprises us with a contemporary mix of sophistication to this ever-classic print. As far as basics go, we are already well-versed with our skinny jeans and solid oxford shirts, but Breton striped apparel unquestionably fit in to our wardrobe of versatile staples. The casual design astonishingly goes well with everything; perhaps that’s the appeal of minimalism. Our favourite lies in the high neck shearling coat, with bold slashes of the blue and white stipe across it. Who ever said that basic = plain? We’re pumped up to stock up on more of these everyday go-tos that we’ll subconsciously find ourselves reaching out for every morning.
