If you grew up anytime in the 90s, chances are that the Nintendo Game Boy was a huge part of your childhood. After all these years it’s also likely that the once-beloved handheld gaming device is either broken or collecting dust somewhere in your house, which is why the Super Retro Boy is something to take note of if you’re looking for some old school fun.
While not an official release by Nintendo, the Super Retro Boy is designed to mimic the look of the original Game Boy, and will be compatible with not just Game Boy, but Game Boy Colour and Game Boy Advance cartridges as well. Despite it’s retro aesthetic, the device has also received some modern upgrades, such as a scratch and shatter-resistant screen, along with a 2,500 mAh battery that’ll provide 10 hours of gameplay on a single charge.
The Super Retro Boy will retail for 79.99 USD, but don’t expect to get your hands on it anytime soon. Developers Retro-Bit are still putting the finishing touches on the device and looking at an August release date, which gives you plenty of time to dig through your cupboards for that old Pokémon Red Version cartridge.
