Adidas Consortium and Sneaker Politics Give The Gazelle a Mardi Gras-Inspired Makeover

We’re ten days into February, which means that it’s about time for another addition to the year-long Adidas Consortium Sneaker Exchange. This month, the brand with the three stripes is teaming up with Louisiana-based retailer Sneaker Politics to give the classic Gazelle silhouette a festive makeover.

Inspired by Lousiana’s signature Mardi Gras festival which takes place at the end of the month, the sneaker features a predominantly cream coloured primeknit upper with purple, green and gold accents woven throughout to pay homage to the “king cake” that’s traditionally eaten during the festival (you’re welcome for the crash course in southern US history). To further add on to the cake motif, the sneaker rocks a gum sole (gum = dough?), and is topped off with some finer details like a suede heel tab and fleece tongue.

The Sneaker Politics x adidas Consortium Gazelle PK is set to drop on February 18th, and considering that Limited Edt brought in last month’s Collette x UNDEFEATED collaboration, we just might see a local release for these as well. We might not be able to fly down to America to celebrate Mardi Gras, but we can certainly look the part at least.
