Before anything else, if you haven’t watched the final trailer for the upcoming film adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, see below, and expect goosebumps:
This 2-and-a-half minute trailer, besides giving us the Emma Watson screen time we all want, offers a better look at the tender moments between the two main characters, against an incredible set. Add in the soundtrack of the iconic title song performed by Ariana Grande and John Legend, and it all almost brings tears to our eyes.
Ahead of the film’s release on 16 March, you can also ready yourself for a slew of Beauty and the Beast-themed collections coming your way. And leading the pack is local jewellery designer Carrie K., who also put her spin on last year’s Disney hit, Alice Through The Looking Glass, and has once again tied up with Disney this year to create these jewellery pieces inspired by the tale as old as time.
The pieces from this collection come inspired by the juxtaposition of “Beauty” and “Beast”, and they pay homage to both characters with details like shapes resembling jagged teeth, and pearls.
Overall, it’s not an incredibly feminine collection, but we love that it’s that way. Placing pearls in silver, rose gold and yellow gold pieces with jagged edges lend an irreverence to the pieces that is really quite accurate to what the character of Belle represents. And they’re hella stylish to boot, the kind of minimalist designs that will work with any outfit, long after the hype for this movie has died down.
A percentage of the profits from this collection will also be donated to the Singapore Committee for UN Women, in admiration of Emma Watson’s portrayal of Belle, and the actress’ work as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador (the launch date of this collection also happens to be International Women’s Day). If this is any indication of the Beauty and the Beast-themed products coming our way soon, there sure is plenty to look forward to in the coming weeks.
