Here's How You Can Pull Off Pyjamas In Public

It’s a lazy girl’s dream, isn’t it? Wake up, take a selfie and #iwokeuplikethis, then roll out of bed in what you’ve already worn, ready to take on the day. Unless you’re one of the lucky ones who get to work from home, chances are, you actually have to wear something nice to look decent in front of people. Oh, the bother.
Unless, unless you’re a goddess who can pull off the Pyjamas Trend. It’s totally a sleeper hit; underwhelming and attempted by a few brave souls, until suddenly, we see it all over style bloggers like Chiara Ferragni at Fashion Week – you’ll still need some courage to look great, sure, but if you’ve been thinking of it, we’ve got your back.

First up, that PJ top. Think of it as a shirt, and hey, suddenly you have something you can tuck into a pencil skirt like every trendy OL. Just make sure there are the distinct contrast trims that make it look like a PJ top, or you can opt for luxurious silk blends for an extra sheen to your outfit. Little embroidery prints add to the look too.

For the more adventurous, you can even go for a head-to-toe outfit, like how Bally and For Restless Sleepers have styled them. Just make sure you opt for a matching print so you don’t look like you’re just running to the NTUC downstairs. It’s almost like a suit or co-ordinates, though the slouchy silhouette makes the look more relaxed. Go for stripes if you feel loud prints are too much for you.

3.2 - slides
Top: Dolce & Gabbana Men’s Slippers (available May); Chanel Black Sequins Minaudiere (available June) | Bottom: Chanel Pendant Necklace (available June); Fenty x PUMA Slides; Charlotte Olympia Shoes (at On Pedder); Suecomma Bonnie Slides (at On Pedder)

No look is complete without the shoes to match – and here, we’re talking comfortable slip-ons and slides. No laces, buckles, velcro straps or anything strenuous! There also seems to be a coincidental theme going on with Chanel and Dolce & Gabbana’s upcoming releases; the “DG Luxury Hotel” slippers and “Please Do Not Disturb” bag are a perfect play on hotel motifs, so you can forever walk around on that vacation high.
4 - robes
L – R: Mango Embroidered Robe; Miu Miu SS17; Pomelo Miyo Velvet Blazer

We think this is the no-brainer way to pull the trend off. Instead of a bomber jacket or cardigan, go for a laidback robe to tie together your look. Miu Miu did a cheeky spin on beach robes while also reminding us that it’s all about textures; wrap a girly silk robe around your neutral-toned outfit, or get a fluffy velvet or suede jacket to instantly elevate your casual attire, even when paired with jeans. Round that off with slip-ons and you’re ready to make sleep-walking the new cool.
