New Balance and J.Crew Team Up For a Coffee-Inspired Sneaker

We don’t know about you, but we love our coffee, and we definitely love our sneakers, so what could be better than a sneaker inspired by coffee? After numerous successful sneaker collaborations in the past, New Balance is once again teaming up with American retailer J.Crew to give their 997 silhouette in a limited edition “Cortado” makeover, and by the looks of it it could be their best design yet.

Drawing inspiration from the classic espresso of the same name, the Cortado features a multitude of different elements that come together to form an attractive final product (kind of like a coffee, we guess). The premium suede upper drapes the front and back of the shoe in a light tan, and is split by a light grey midsection and white accents for a varied colour scheme. Everything rests on a classic white midsole / gum sole combination for those sporty vibes, and the the signature New Balance “N” features a much bolder brown for that pop of colour.

The J.Crew x New Balance 997 “Cortado” will see an international release on the 25th of March, and since there aren’t any J.Crew stores in Singapore your next best bet at copping a pair will be on the brand’s official website. Be prepared to pay a pretty penny though: the kicks come with a US$210 price tag — way more than we’re used to paying for New Balance shoes — but considering that they’re available in “extremely limited numbers”, they just might end up being an investment in the end.
