Retro Meets Modern With Adidas' New Iniki Runner

It’s pretty safe to say that Adidas’ current sneaker offerings cover all bases — Yeezys, NMD’s and Ultra Boosts keep the sneakerheads coming back, while the classic silhouettes like the Stan Smith and Superstar cater to a more general crowd. While they could probably just call it a day right now and still stay relevant, it looks like the brand with the three stripes is further cementing their place at the top of the sneaker scene with the release of an entirely new silhouette: the Iniki Runner.

Drawing inspiration from 1970s running shoes, the sneaker bears a passing resemblance to the brand’s Gazelle and Samba silhouettes, but is fitted with modern Adidas technology. The upper is a comfy combination of mesh and suede, while the bottom half features a signature boost midsole (a definite inclusion for every modern Adidas release) paired with a contrasting sole for that old-school aesthetic.

The Adidas Iniki Runner is available in a variety of colourways —red, navy and grey for guys, purple and mint green for girls — and despite being released just yesterday, a quick search on the internet shows that the sneaker is already selling out everywhere. The sneaker will definitely become more readily available as the hype inevitably dies down in the coming months and more colourways get released, so keep an eye out for this one if you’re looking to cop a pair.
