Vans Goes Oriental This Spring

Never being one to shy away from outrageous designs, the Vans SS17 lookbook gave us a peek into the various styles that will be launching this year. We immediately had a favourite. The oriental embroidery design called out to our Asian roots, and while the highlight animals were strong Japanese motifs, we fell right in love anyway.

The classic slip-ons from the ROLLICKING x Vans Japan collab just made the classic canvas-covered Vans a whole lot more badass. For most of the shoe’s upper, a vibrant embroidery of a dragon and tiger stands proud, finished off with the word ‘Japan’ written in cursive right at the tongue of each shoe. Plus, they’re made of silk this time, just to add on to the whole luxurious feel of the kicks.
These come as a well-deserved break from the many pastel-parties that we’ve been indulging in. Plus, it’s not every day we get to see some chic oriental designs on sneakers too — and if you’re not one for souvenir jackets (those denim ones with embroidery on the back), this is a good way to play with the trend as well.

And ROLLICKING loyalists would also be pleased to know that even the shoebox comes with custom illustrations that could be saved for keepsake purposes.
ROLLICKING x Vans Japan will be available on Mar 17 at select Vans stockists in Taiwan and Japan. Services like ShopAndBox and Airfrov may be employed to have your sneakers brought into Singapore.
