Nike's New Air Force 1 "Easter Egg" is an Explosion of Pastel

You’ve probably realised by now that you can’t go wrong with a pair of pastel sneakers, but with new colourways dropping on an almost daily basis, which one are you ultimately going to choose? Do you make a statement with an eye-catching yellow, take a chance with the up-and-coming lilac, or play it safe with an always-in-trend pink? Well, Nike is making that first world problem a little easier with the release of their latest Air Force 1, which takes not one, not two…heck, not even three, but five of this season’s hottest pastel colours and slaps them onto a single pair of kicks.

Nope, that’s not a typo — in what is probably the swoosh brand’s most outrageous design in recent memory, the front, middle and back of the shoe have been draped in a pastel blue, pink and purple respectively, while the signature swoosh and eyelets have been fitted with a striking lime green. The toe box opts for a more subdued look with a light grey, and the stitching around the midsole has been made pink for a subtle hint of detailing. Top it off with an icy semi-translucent sole, and you have what is possibly the most attention-grabbing pair of statement sneakers that don’t make use of oversized laces or fur.

The Nike Air Force 1 “Easter Egg” will be released today at 4pm, and can be copped online at retailers such as Titolo for US$170. That’s a little more expensive than your average pair of Air Force 1’s, but considering that this is essentially five colourways in one, it could be the only pair of sneakers that you’ll need for a long time. At the very least, we can totally see this as some pop art-esque wall ornament for the artsy sneakerhead, so…win-win, we guess.
