Puma Goes Exotic With The Clyde Snake

We’ve seen Puma use all kinds of materials when it comes to their sneakers — suede, “exotic skin” (whatever that is), satin and velvet are a few that we can think of at the top of our heads…but snakeskin? Now that’s one we definitely haven’t heard of before. In what we can only assume is an ongoing effort to further diversify their catalog, it looks like the German sportswear brand has fitted their Clyde silhouette in a design usually seen on luxury bags, and y’know what? We have to admit that we’re actually digging the look.

Okay, we’re pretty sure that these kicks don’t use actual snakeskin (which might be a good or bad thing depending on who you ask), but the design on the upper — which comes in either a striking “High Risk Red” or more subdued “Puma Silver” — is realistic enough to create a truly statement look that’s sure to get you some nods of approval on the street. The lower half, on the other hand, opts for a simple white sole, which is a smart move considering that adding anything else at this point would be design overkill.

The Puma Clyde Snake is available right now, and can be found online at retailers such as Titolo for US$140 (it might not be real snakeskin, but you’ll still have to pay a pretty penny for it). If this is the start of Puma experimenting with increasingly strange materials for their sneakers, then we can’t wait to see what the brand has in store for future releases.
