"Detachable Jeans" Are Now a Thing And We're So Done

Have you ever worn a pair of jeans out and thought to yourself “man, wouldn’t it be great if I could remove about three quarters of these pants and wear them like a pair of shorts like, right now?” No? Well, apparently Paris-based brand Y/Project doesn’t care what you think, and has created what could be the world’s first 2-in-1 jeans / shorts hybrid, proving that just because you thought of it first, doesn’t mean that it’s a good idea. And we were thinking that Balenciaga was bad…

If you thought that a pair of “Detachable Cut-Out Front Jeans” would look as dumb as they sound, well…you’d be right. First off, the shorts portion looks so uncomfortable that we’re getting a wedgie just by looking at it, and the peculiar curved cutting makes the pockets so shallow that we probably couldn’t fit a 50-cent coin inside without having it fall out after taking a single step. Perhaps the biggest offender of this Frankenstein piece, however, is the gap that shows up when you join the two pieces together, which exposes the skin at your crotch and right under your butt…we’d prefer to leave some things to the imagination, thank you very much.

We’ve heard of “butt cheek shorts”, but this is just ridiculous.

You might be thinking that such an avant-garde piece would at least come with an affordable price tag to make the look a little easier to swallow, but here’s one last kicker: they cost a whopping six hundred and thirty six dollars, and one size is already sold out. Yeah, we’re probably going to sit this one out, but if you feel the need to be the centre of attention at all times, head on to Opening Ceremony to grab a pair.
