Local Webstores That Are Changing the Landscape of Natural and Organic Beauty

Green beauty has seen a sharp spike in demand over the past year thanks to celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Emma Watson, and more recently, Olivia Wilde, championing humble brands from all corners of the globe. With great hallmarks, though, come greater requests; and for natural beauty junkies like myself, there’s just never enough plant-powered products to go around. Lucky for us, getting our hands on a wildcrafted variety has never been breezier. From vegetable-infused facial cleansers to fruit-pigmented lipsticks, we’ve discovered a bumper crop of webstores in Singapore that’ll feed your need for more natural and organic beauty.

Bud Cosmetics

Let’s kick things off with my favourite beauty destination. Both online and in-store, Bud Cosmetics is overflowing with eco-friendly, guilt-free beauty goodies, carrying plenty of quality natural and organic brands that boast clean ingredient lists, with the likes of Juice Beauty, Dr. Alkaitis, OSKIAIntelligent NutrientsJohn Masters Organics, and 100% Pure. Not to mention, they also have a line of products for your tiny tots and pets. Yup, it’s pretty much a one-stop Mecca for the green beauty-obsessed.

100% Pure

Yes, Bud Cosmetics does carry items from this brand, but 100% Pure’s own online store offers a wider range of natural, cruelty-free, vegan beauty products that are chock-full of antioxidants, vitamins, and fruit pigments. True to its name, you won’t find any nasty chemicals and artificial fragrances in their lineup, which is why their products are perfect for those struggling to make peace with their sensitive, problematic skin. Having tested many products from this brand, my top picks would have to be the Super Fruits Healthy Foundation, their Fruit Pigmented Lip Glazes, and the most recent addition, the Super Fruits Concentrated Oil Serum, which I hear is being discontinued (please don’t cease production on this, I need it to be around till the day I die).

The Naturally Better Company

When your pay check’s finally come in (almost there) and you feel like treating yo’self to the crème-de-la-crème of natural beauty, browse The Naturally Better Company’s store for luxury skincare and makeup brands of the highest quality. RMS Beauty, Tata Harper, and ILIA Beauty may be the ones dominating the bestseller list at the moment (no surprises there), but the store also carries goods by May Lindstrom, buzzworthy Hawaiian label Leahlani Skincare, as well as one of the most decadent brands in green beauty, de Mamiel. The only gripe I have about this webstore is that they don’t display full ingredient lists for each product. It’d be really helpful if they did. After all, a single ingredient could take someone down to Rash Town all over again.

An Uplifted Day

While I was looking up a couple of products from minimalist skincare brand S.W. Basics, I came across this natural beauty webstore. And now, I’m incredibly tempted to make a rather hefty order (bye money), because I’ve just found out that An Uplifted Day also carries a good selection of Josh Rosebrook products. Each item in the store is specially vetted and selected based on what the team actually uses on the daily, and although they aren’t carrying too many brands at the moment, their founder sure has plans on expanding their collection in the near future.

Après Avant

French for “after before”, Après Avant’s not just a Singapore-based natural webstore, it’s also got an editorial section that provides a good amount of insight on holistic approaches to beauty, wellness, and lifestyle, which is awesome for those who enjoy interviews and educational features. The site’s got a well-curated retail area that sells products from brands like Tatcha, LilfoxLuxe Botanics, and even charcoal-infused deodorants from Kaia Naturals, which surprisingly, are rather effective for natural deodorants. The founder of Après Avant has also created a Clean Beauty Box, which allows you to try out product samples before committing to full-sized ones – a recommended first step for those who are new to the world of green beauty.

Pure Tincture

From mineral foundations by Alima Pure and nourishing lippies by Lily Lolo (THERE IS A SALE. $5 FOR A LIPSTICK, HOLY SH*T), to Suntegrity‘s popular 5-in-1 Tinted Sunscreen and gentle formulations from sensitive skin-approved brand Pai Skincare, there are plenty of options at Pure Tincture for organic enthusiasts. However, Pure Tincture is best known for their pampering facials using soothing products from Pai. So if you’re in need of a calming wind-down session, go ahead and book an appointment through the Vaniday site.

Charis Naturals

It’s comforting to know that there are like-minded individuals out there who do a ton of research on the ins and outs of natural beauty products, which is why I appreciate Michelle’s webstore, Charis Naturals. The star of the show would have to be Kahina Giving Beauty, a brand that revolves around its key ingredient, argan oil, or as some would refer to as “Moroccan liquid gold”. But whatever you choose to call it, there’s no doubting its efficacy in smoothing out the skin as well as parched locks. Charis Naturals also stocks items from Blissoma, which is a brand that infuses its products with fresh herb extracts, juices, and cold-pressed seed oils to max out on its nutrient content.

Beauty Resources

I’ve raved about Jane Iredale‘s PureBrow Brow Gel in the past, but obviously, that’s not all the brand’s known for. Jane Iredale’s cosmetics serve as an extension of your skincare regime, which is why her products always aim to do much more than just sit on your face to make it look good. The brand uses concentrated pigments in pure minerals to conceal yet naturally illuminate the face, ideal replacements for makeup that’s struggling to stay put in these humid conditions.

Kate & Paul Organics

As I was doing a little research on Marie Veronique‘s products, I came across this gem of a webstore. I also found a decent selection of 100% Pure products, rare finds from Indie Lee, and good picks from Simplicité on their site. Japanese organic brand Aqua Cosmetics is a part of their curation too, and I’m pretty eager on testing out their brow pencil. And if you’re looking to educate yourself on a holistic approach to natural beauty, browse through their section dedicated to editorial blog posts. It’s also nice to know that I live close to their office too, so self-collection is a convenient option.

Naiise

If you often find yourself down in a rabbit hole that is the Naiise webstore, then you’d probably be familiar with homegrown natural beauty brands such as Handmade Heroes (two thumbs up for their Nourishing Rice Scrubs), Katfood, and ANIA Skincare. There’s actually a pretty large selection of local green goodies on the site that we’re totally proud of and will absolutely support. In fact, these brands have their individual webstores too, but if you’re thinking of getting a few items from each brand (which, you will), then feel free to add them to a single virtual cart on Naiise.
