The pinstripe might be PUMA’s version of the Nike swoosh or Adidas three stripes, but oversized ribbon laces are another design element that are fast becoming synonymous with the German sportswear brand. The eye-catching statement look first gained traction with the Basket Heart and was further cemented by the Rihanna-designed Fenty Bow Sneaker, and considering how hype those kicks have become, it’s no surprise that PUMA is rolling out yet another pair of ribbon-equipped kicks to keep sneakerheads interested.
Dubbed the “Prevail Heart”, these shoes look like what would happen if the Basket Heart and Air Max had a baby — while the original ribbon sneakers featured a rather streamlined shape, these kicks rock a much chunkier silhouette that — when paired with the oversized laces — makes it feel both sporty and luxurious at the same time. Shiny gold accents on the lace holes and heel provide a nice pop of contrast to the matte colourway, and the lower half tops it off with a timeless white sole for a clean look that can’t go wrong.
Available in black, white and a lilac-esqe “Halogen Blue”, the PUMA Prevail Heart is available right now, and can be bought online at Titolo for US$130. It looks like PUMA isn’t going to stop until they’ve slapped an oversized bow on every piece of footwear imaginable, but if they’re all going to look this good, we’re definitely not going to complain.
