The Adidas Turbular Viral 2 "Icey Pink" is a Minimalist Masterpiece

Adidas has never been one to shy away from graphic-heavy designs — sneakers like the floral-covered Adi-Ease and polka dotted NMDs should be evidence enough of that — but we can all probably agree that the brand with the three stripes still does it best when they stick to a clean, minimalist aesthetic. Silhouettes like the Stan Smith and Superstar have become as iconic as they are because of that exact “less is more” philosophy, and it looks like the Turbular Viral 2 is now trying to recreate that success with its latest “Icey Pink” colourway.

We’re not sure if this is intentional, but thanks to its all mesh upper and sleek form factor, the Turbular Viral 2 looks like Adidas’ answer to the Nike Roshe, which — considering how popular those shoes are — isn’t a bad thing at all. Playing it safe, the sneaker is draped in an always-in-trend light pink, and instead of the traditional three stripes on the side these kicks rock three triangles for a modern aesthetic that we’re definitely digging. The upper is topped off with a chunky heel tab with Adidas branding, while the lower half opts for a simple all-white EVA midsole to create a sporty look that’s sure to be statement piece in your athleisure ensemble.

The women’s exclusive adidas Originals Turbular Viral 2 “Icey Pink” is available right now, and can be bought online at select Adidas stockists such as Titolo for US$130. Everyone should (ideally) have a pair of Stan Smiths and / or Superstars in their sneaker rotations, and if you’re looking to expand your minimalist options beyond that, these kicks are definitely one worth considering.
