When I first saw this jar, I thought it was the “La Creme” from the brand. Then when I realised it was a foundation, I was so excited to try it because every past foundation from cle de peau has not disappointed. My first impression of this cream foundation is that it is soft; the texture feels soft to the touch, it glides on softly across the face, and even looks soft on the skin. So soft. After a minute of settling on the skin, there’s a “blurring” effect that makes pores appear smaller, and skin glows where light hits it. I must say though, almost every good foundation does this as well, but what I like about “The Foundation” is really its incredible softness. I like how soft it makes my skin look. Also, being from cle de peau beauté, I’m pretty sure there are loads of skincare benefits that come with constant use of this makeup; I can’t claim that it’s done anything in particular for my skin as I’ve only used this for a few days, but I can say that I’ve had no bad reactions to it. I’d prefer though, if this product came in a pump bottle or a squeeze tube; jars aren’t exactly the most hygienic, though they look the most expensive.

Kérastase Aura Botanica Concentré Essentiel Aromatic Nourishing Oil Blend
$50 (50 ml), available at Kérasatase salons (see full listing at hair-salons.kerastase.com)
kerastase aura botanica

Where few hair treatments actually do anything for my dry, frizzy hair, this oil performs miracles. Just one pump of this golden liquid can smooth down my entire mane — the oil makes my hair look healthier, glossier, and more manageable, and all without a heavy or oily feeling. I can even skip a hair styling product and my hair doesn’t look its usual mess. I like this product so much that I’m going to standby a second bottle of this so I don’t panic when the first one finishes. By the way, this was O Magazine’s (the Oprah Winfrey mag!) May 2017 Spring Beauty O-Wards Winner for “Best Treatment For Dry Hair”.

Lush Ugai Mouthwash
$18 (45g / approx. 80 tabs), available at Lush stores and lushsg.com
lush ugai

This is a solid mouthwash — you heard that right. It comes in the form of little tablets — just pop one in the mouth, sip a little water, let the whole thing fizzle like a soda, then swish it around. It’s not so much the novelty of it being solid that I like, but really the mild flavour of sea salt, tea tree oil (both antibacterial), and green tea that the formula is made of. I’ve never been a fan of Listerine or Dettol mouthwashes — both always leave too strong a taste in the mouth (that honestly makes me feel ill); and even the version from Aesop that comes in the nicest mouthwash bottle in the world is too potent for my liking; so when this surprising offering from Lush came along this past week, I feel like I’ve discovered a gem; and one that I can take along with me on planes!

Aesop Istros Aromatique Room Spray
$67 (100ml), available from 3 July 2017 at Aesop stores globally
aseop istros

Aesop recently announced three room sprays and sent one version to each media. I got the Istros blend, which comprises of Pink Pepper, Lavender, and Mimosa, with undertones of Cedar and Sandalwood, and a final hint of Tobacco. If anyone takes this off my desk I’m going to go crazy on them. I don’t know how the client knew this would be the scent that would get me, but it’s exactly how I want my home, office, and basically any room I’m in to smell like. And yes, it’s pricey for an air spray, but this is a beauty brand that has skincare kits that cost in excess of $400. Nothing to think about. It’s $67 for peace and happiness.
