The fact that floral sneakers (or really, just sneakers) will never go out of style on our island of eternal-summer is possibly the saving grace of the very sunny tropical climate that we have to deal with day in and out. For those who aren’t as crazy over the millennial pink offerings that we covered a couple of weeks back, we hope that this selection of floral fantasy styles is to your liking instead.
Nike Air Zoom Strong AMP in Black/White
US$130, available on nike.com
The name of this pair of Nike’s doesn’t do it justice at all, because the moment you set eyes on this beauty, everything else pretty much pales in comparison. The sneaker is very much a triple black offering, but with a gothic floral accent that just adds that much more attitude to a pair of shoes. It’s sleek, it’s bold, it’s an art piece. The Air Zoom Strong AMP silhouette is meant for gymming, so you can expect a snug sock-like fit, cushion soles that enhance stability, and other features across the upper mid strap that will keep your feet locked in while you work out in style.
Vans Slip-On in Floral
$75.95, available at dressinn.com
It doesn’t matter that the classic slip-on, decked out in vintage-tinted florals came as a late spring surprise. Floral kicks will always be welcomed with open arms. The flora featured on the sneaker’s upper is similar to the ones found on Havana, Cuba — and there are equal parts flora and fauna. The sole is kept white so as to contrast against the hearty print, and the inside of the slip-on is lined with leather for a slip-proof wear.
Gucci Princetown New Flora Slippers
US$750, available at gucci.com
Okay, so this might not be a sneaker per se, but Gucci’s recent art direction — when translated onto actual apparel and accessories — is really too good to be missed out on. Their Princetown silhouette has been wildly popular among fashion gurus; it’s already a cult-classic — and this time round, a floral rendition that’ll make a great addition to our vintage stash. Plus, since the slippers are an ode to the weekends, Gucci has very cheekily sewn in a heart motif on the insole of the footwear, just so you remember to celebrate the weekend fun with them when you pop these out to a lazy Sunday brunch.
adidas adi-Ease
US$60, available on sneakerpolitics.com
This pair of floral kicks is what we call girly with a twist. Featuring an majority-navy upper, the dark blue upper is peppered with vivid tangerine floral accents, alongside leaves in similar muted midnight tones. Everything else is kept simple; matching navy laces and a white sole to balance the heavy upper out.
Nike “Spring Garden” Pack
US$95-US$120, available on nike.com
This might very well be the treat that we need on a dreary Monday, since Nike’s “Spring Garden” Pack comes with not one, not two, but four of their most popular silhouettes, clad in true jungle floral vibes. These sneakers — namely the Air Max 90, the Roshe Two, the Internationalist and the Juvenate — have a predominantly upper black and green to begin with, but each style comes peppered with hints of colour from the florals, paving way for a sophisticated wild side. We mean, we could totally see this pair on a chic zookeeper. Or a fashionable gardener. You get us.
Vans Old Skool Botanical Customs
US$150, OOS on amac-customs.com
AMAC Customs makes some of the prettiest customs we’ve ever seen. Just take a peek at their not-so-recent artwork; the Botanical pack that features Vans’ classic Old Skool silhouette with light pink embroidery blossoms along the edges and tip of the footwear. It’s pretty evident that pink florals have done well this season, considering how AMAC Customs managed to sell out of their stock. But fret not, there are always resellers galore — if not, this might be your new DIY project to pursue over the weekend.
