When it comes to striking the balance between function and style, few out there can beat New Balance. The sportswear company has been pretty active in the lifestyle market lately, launching street-worthy kicks like the 247 Classic. However the US-based brand is once again putting a strong emphasis on performance with its latest FuelCore pack.
Comprising of three pairs of running shoes – the FuelCore Sonic, the FuelCell, and the FuelRush, this new collection is geared purely towards athletes; but more on that later.
Each shoe is pretty neat for wearing on a regular day as well; that’s if you’re into the whole athleisure trend where sports gear and street clothing mix. But if performance rather than style is what you’re more concerned with, here’s some good news for you. Each FuelCore shoe, in particular the FuelCore Sonic and the FuelCell, will feature innovative components that are designed to up your training regime like never before.
For instance, the FuelCore Sonic comes with a synthetic breathable air mesh upper, a REVlite midsole, and a lightweight rubber outsole. The real star of the show however is a circular-shaped Boa Fit System that’s attached to the side of the shoe. How it works is that you adjust it by twisting the knob to tighten the laces. This will give you a snug fit.
As for the FuelCell, it’s all about the sole. Inspired by origami shapes, the FuelCell’s sole is crafted from a combination of REVlite cushioning, along with a nitrogen-infused TPU. New Balance claims that this will increase your propulsion and speed when you’re running, while a breathable performance mesh is for added comfort.
If you want to cop these kicks, the FuelCore Sonic is retailing for $149, while the FuelCell costs $279. The Fuel Core Sonic for women’s comes in “Alpha Pink”, “Black, and “Cyclone”, while the FuelCell for women’s arrives in “Alpha Pink” and “White”. Both shoes are available now at all New Balance outlets.
