“Coming soon.” To the uninitiated members of Kat Von D’s cult, those two words wouldn’t really make an impact, but amongst the worshippers of her beauty brand, they’re sure to cause a frenzy. Well, the long wait (6 months can feel like an eternity, okay) for Kat Von D’s glitter lipstick is finally over. The first shade of her new Everlasting Glimmer Veil has just dropped.
According to the tattoo artist, this would be the world’s first 24-hour metallic lipstick, and that information alone is all we need to fuel that impulse purchase. If you’ve ever tried to pull off a glitter or metallic lip for the whole day, you’ll probably be familiar with the issues that arise when you’re wearing a sparkly lip topper. Most of the time, it gets all over the place, wears off unevenly, and feels tacky on the lips. With the Glimmer Veil, however, it promises a 3D crystallised finish, which is something we’re incredibly hyped up about.
Before its launch, Kat Von DÂ took to her personal Instagram account and posted a selfie of herself wearing the shade Satellite, a sky blue with a foil finish, sharing, “This formula is like heaven on your lips, it’s longwear as f*ck, and is designed to be worn by itself or over any other longwear formula. In this photo I’m wearing one coat of #GlimmerVeil by itself!” It sounds pretty darn close to what the Urban Decay Vice Special Effects Lip Top Coats aim to do, except these will be much more opaque and come in totally different shades.
There may only be one shade up for grabs at the moment, but we can expect 8 more shades to roll out on the 22nd of August. Just look at that gorgeous gold, vivid pink, and mysterious grey-black (we’ll be using that one to complete our upcoming Halloween look).
