Adidas’ New UltraBOOST Sneakers Are The Perfect Kicks For Any Weather

Singapore may be blazing hot. But when it starts to pour, things can get torrential. Which is why shoes that can withstand the elements are a must-have. Trouble is, few brands have crafted that elusive all-weather footwear solution, perhaps with the exception of adidas.
The sneaker giant has just dropped the latest iterations of its self-proclaimed “best running shoes in the world”, the company’s iconic UltraBOOST kicks – namely, the UltraBOOST ATR and UltraBOOST X ATR – shoes that come packed with all sorts of features specifically designed to combat Mother Nature.

The UltraBOOST ATR is for guys, and includes an integrated cage for better support, while the UltraBOOST X ATR is specially designed for the female foot, with an adaptive arch that adds dynamic support for a seamless run.
What’s particular special about the women’s shoe — see that plastic piece? It’s holding the shoe up. If you’re looking at the shoe in person, there’s a hollow space that separates the middle part of the shoe from the sole, to get it that more feet-hugging.

And we’ve got to say, both shoes are absolutely glorious for running.
A water-repellant primeknit upper comes as the UltraBOOST’s first line of defence against rain and puddles, being crafted from moisture-resistant yarn. That may sound slightly uncomfortable, but it isn’t, as the fabric is breathable enough for your feet to be sufficiently aired.
Also, a high knit ankle design that fits like a sock gives extra protection, while night run addicts will appreciate the shoe’s reflectivity, with reflective detailing on the sock offering nocturnal visibility.

Other weatherproof features include a continental stretchweb outsole; which increases traction on slippery surfaces, a BOOST midsole that returns energy every time your foot hits the ground, as well as what is called the All Terrain LUX configuration – a course outsole that ensures stable foot to road traction, meaning that stuff like mud won’t bother you.
However, Adidas’ new UltraBOOST kicks aren’t just great for performance. They look really good too. For instance, the high-knit ankle design gives both sneakers a sleek feel, while their dark colourways are ideal for matching with any outfit, whether you’re going for a long run or just hanging with friends – a real bonus for sneaker-heads.
