Disney and Lenovo Join Forces to Create Augmented Reality Star Wars Game

It’s the unlikeliest of alliances. But an alliance it is nonetheless, and what an alliance it may turn out to be. Disney and Lenovo have partnered together to come up with every hardcore Star Wars fan’s dream – an augmented reality (AR) game that brings the “Galaxy far, far away” into the real world.

Called Star Wars: Jedi Challenges, the game can be downloaded from both the App Store and Google Play, and it will be played via a smartphone, a lightsaber hilt controller, as well as the Lenovo Mirage AR headset; which was specially released for the game.
Check out the trailer for the game below:

As seen in the trailer, users will be able to partake in all sorts of exciting Star Wars experiences, AR-style of course. There are lightsaber fights, large-scale battles with AT-ATs, and even rounds of Holochess.
But unlike virtual reality (VR), the gamer is not closed off from reality. Instead, the Lenovo Mirage AR headset layers all these digital experiences into the real world, using a front visor and internal lenses to display your surroundings, with a movement-tracking beacon that’s placed on the floor.
