Experience The Wonder of Flight with Parrot’s New FPV Drone

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Nope, it’s none of those things, and it’s not Superman either. What you’ve probably noticed whizzing above you in the streets lately are drones – unmanned vehicles piloted with remote controls. And they’re great for loads of things: racing, taking pictures, or simply watching them soar high in the sky.

However, French drone company Parrot wants to take things one step further with the launch of its latest minidrone – the Parrot Mambo FPV. A rejigged version of the company’s previous Mambo models, this diminutive contraption actually allows you to see whatever its camera captures while you’re flying it.
Sound crazy? Well, it isn’t really.

The Mambo FPV can do this because its camera streams wirelessly to your phone via Parrot’s FreeFlight Mini app. It then uses a headset – called the Cockpitglasses 2, to work as sort of a virtual reality headset, giving you an insane airspace view through your phone, effectively letting you roam the skies without leaving the ground.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The Mambo FPV has a list of other improvements over its predecessors – most prominent of all is the attachable camera that can record HD video in 720p with a wide 120° field of view, as well as the ability to change flight modes, meaning you can ditch the autopilot if flying is getting too easy.

Flight times last for about 10 minutes without the attached camera and eight with, although most consumer drones don’t have that long of a battery life, so this isn’t really a problem. Check out the chaos in our office when we tried out the Parrot Mambo FPV for a demo:

If you’d like to score the Parrot Mambo FPV, it’s retailing for $369, and is available at Challenger, Popular, Nubox, Gifts Greetings, Streamcastasia, Parisilk, AV One @ The Adelphi, and Lazada.sg.
