Lepark to Shut Down for Good on September 30 with We Remember! Festival

It’s been a wonderful three years, but the time to say goodbye to Lepark is drawing near. Last Saturday (September 16), the popular rooftop gastropub announced that it would be closing for good on September 30, citing “reasons beyond (their) control” as the cause for closure.

Channel NewsAsia revealed that the real reason was because the landlord is selling the entire car park space, although that hardly matters now. The deed is done. And now, less than two weeks remain for people to enjoy the space that has given Singapore’s F&B, music, and arts scene so much soul.

At least everyone’s favourite Chinatown hangout spot is going out with a bang. Come Lepark’s final day of operation, a mini arts event called the We Remember! Festival will be held from 12pm to 11pm, celebrating World Alzheimer’s Month and raising awareness of the disease through film, music, art, and photography.
A series of paid fringe activities will be held, with highlights including “A Walk Through Dementia Film Event”; which features five dementia-related short films from Singapore, and “Get Your Headspace On”; a mindfulness session that involves a lot of meditating and getting rid of stress. Get your tickets here.

Of course, true to Lepark fashion, the event will end off with a free acoustic gig that starts from 8pm onwards, and it’ll probably be the last time that a Chinatown rooftop will be the breeding ground of music.
In any case, it’ll also be the last opportunity to knock back some cold beers at one of Singapore’s hippest spots, as well as to gobble up some of Lepark’s food, including locally inspired dishes such as chicken rice sushi and milo soft serve.

Whether Lepark’s owners will reopen elsewhere, that’s anyone’s guess. But there’s no doubt that things have been good while they’ve lasted, and the food, drink, music, art, and whimsical weddings will remain strong in the memory for a long time to come.
