SanDisk Launches World’s Largest microSD Card with 400GB of Space

Remember the floppy disk? Or even how 2GB memory cards were considered huge back then?
Thank god those days are over. We miss them as much as we miss dial-up Internet, which is to say we don’t miss them at all. But somehow, even with increased memory in our smartphones and more storage options than ever, it’s still difficult to cram all those gorgeous high-res photos and 4K videos nicely in one space.

SanDisk has the answer for that though, and it’s coming in the form of the company’s latest product – the 400GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card, the world’s largest microSD card, and a monster of a storage option that gives you 144GB more space than anything else in the market.
The card, which is targeted at mobile phone users (specifically Android users), is able to store a mind-boggling 40 hours of Full HD video, as well as transfer files at 100MB per second; meaning it can move up to 1,200 photos per minute. And if that doesn’t sound glorious to you, well, check this out: the new card is waterproof, shockproof, temperature-proof, and even X-ray proof too.

“Mobile devices have become the epicenter of our lives, and consumers are now accustomed to using their smartphones for anything from entertainment to business,” said Jeff Janukowicz, SanDisk Research Vice President. “We are collecting and sharing massive amounts of data on smartphones, drones, tablets, PCs, laptops and more.
“We anticipate that storage needs will only continue to grow as people continue to expect more sophisticated features on their devices and desire higher quality content.”
The 400GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card comes with a 10-year warranty and SD adapter and should be available via www.sandisk.com, although when it’s coming out, SanDisk has yet to reveal. The card will cost US$249.99.
