Apple Finally Sells a Dongle For Listening to Music and Charging at the Same Time

It’s finally happened: Apple is now selling a dongle that allows you to plug in headphones and charge your phone simultaneously. The move comes a year late after the headphone jack’s infamous removal, but it’s important to note that this isn’t an Apple-made product – instead, the company is just selling it for Belkin.
Belkin – a consumer electronics manufacturer, launched the multi-purpose dongle earlier this September as an upgrade to last year’s version, which had two Lightning ports instead of the current model with a single Lightning port and 3.5mm jack.

The blessed jack is what will allow all you music freaks to finally listen to music and charge your phone at the same time, although we’re unsure if there are actually that many situations which call for such an act. According to The Verge however, the dongle has similar audio quality to Apple’s adapter.
Also, it’s way better than doubling up your dongles, which you had to do in the past if you wanted to listen to music with wired earphones. Other limitations include not being able to use the dongle as a headphone splitter, or as an extender for an external microphone. It is simply meant to sync and charge.
Anyhow, if you’re interested in scoring the dongle, you can grab it via Apple’s website now for the price of S$54.
