Two days ago, Kim Kardashian turned 37. The goddess of Snapchat and Instagram has been known to celebrate her birthdays with a variety of eccentric and showy parties in nightclubs and casinos. With her sister Kylie Jenner’s recent soiree back in August featuring a nude ice sculpture of herself, fans and social media spectators had expected Kim to try to top that stunt with some sort of whimsical extravaganza.
But it seems like Kim has grown to toot to the sound of her own horn, as she spent quality time with husband Kanye West and the pregnant surrogate of her third child before heading to her mom Kris Jenner’s home to brunch with the entire Kardashian-Jenner clan the following day.
We can only guess how much her phone (or phones) blew up throughout the weekend, from all the posts and messages of well wishes from family, fans and famous friends.
To be honest, this probably isn’t shocking news. For those who haven’t been keeping up with Kim’s goings-on in the past two years or so, she’s been through a roller coaster of transitional moments, from being robbed at gunpoint in a Paris apartment building last year to welcoming her second child, Saint West and now another one with a surrogate. Her near-death experience and struggles with motherhood have clearly left a deep imprint on her.
After having two consecutive years of low-key celebrations, it appears that Kim is maturing and learning from her wilder past. And with Kanye’s house reportedly burgled just a day before Kim’s birthday, it doesn’t seem like Kim is going to let her guard down anytime soon.
At the end of her birthday, Kim took to her social media accounts to thank those who sent their well wishes. For someone who is used to glamour and the flashing lights of paparazzi cameras, Kim is reportedly much happier and at ease with her comparatively reclusive life. She can’t completely pull herself away from social media, but she will likely try to take more time off to look after her kids and work on bettering herself physically and mentally.
