[NSFW] Apart from a lot of titties, I wasn’t sure what to expect from Crazy Horse. In fact, I had the preconceived idea that it was similar to Moulin Rouge…but no; there were no can-can dances (my plus-one was disappointed).
There was, as I imagined, much nudity. In fact, I spent most of the two hours wondering how this passed Singapore’s censorship board. So before that board changes their mind, you have a week left to catch this strictly above-18 production.
The show is a series of songs and dances, with an artistic play of light and visuals on the nude female form. Prepare yourself mentally — there will be naked women dancing on stage; but it’s all very well choreographed, and more artistic, less pornographic.
The shock factor starts right at the beginning of the show with all tits on display: beautiful women in soldier uniforms bare their breasts and dance and jiggle in a row. This moves on to a bunch of Katy Perry lookalikes (no idea if this was intentional) who kick and grind to a remixed version of INXS.
There’s one odd part of the show that features the sole male performer, who is a contortionist. He’s also very shocking (but in a different way than the girls) and hilarious, and during the second half of the show, will pull a male member of the audience up on stage to dance with him (don’t sit along the aisle and you’ll be safe).
Some things to note: no photography is allowed. You’re not even allowed to use your phone while the show is on. Don’t be drunk — this goes without saying, but there was a drunk guy sitting behind me last night who kept saying “strip show… strip show…” while the show was going on. If I find his picture I’ll post it here.
