Tabitha Nauser Tells Us About Her New Single 'Body Language' And Her Secret To Picture-Perfect Success

No doubt about it, Tabitha Nauser’s one cool chick — how can anybody not want to be her?! If you don’t, we’re totally judging you. No pressure. After all, the rising star and singer’s last single, Bulletproof, was a hynotising hit, with her sultry, yet caramel vocals, and also a great piece that showcases her as an artiste — bold, intriguing, and with a nice tinge of R&B-pop flavour to boot. It even reached #1 on Spotify’s SG Viral Chart within its first week release, so you know, we’re not just making this up! How she manages to keep her makeup so on fleek and look so good in her fashionable street-style wear is just more of what makes her great. Sigh, we’re all playing catch-up really.
So when you hear that Tabitha’s dropping her latest single, Body Language, you know you ought to sit up to take notice — and well, turn it up.

This new drop marks another milestone in the singer’s career, and it’s just as catchy as her first. Body Language is a dance-worthy track that talks about the unspoken attraction between two people, and in her own words, “being confident in your skin and being comfortable with your sexuality”, which gives some empowering meaning to our new earworm. It also marks the first time that she has collaborated with Malaysian rapper SonaOne, who helped re-arrange and produce the track, as well as feature on it with his slick rapping.
As for how the NYLON Singapore cover star prepared for her shining debut, we heard that it was really an all-rounded effort. On top of working hard on the music and getting everything about the track right, Tabitha also had a little help with getting her skin optimal and picture-perfect.

As part of SK-II’s #OneBottleAwayFrom campaign, which also stars Behati Prinsloo Levine and Girls Generation singer Choi Soo Young, she got to experience the brand’s signature SK-II Facial Treatment Essence during the entire lead-up to her moment in the spotlight — and achieved great results too. To be fair, Tabitha had pretty good skin to begin with (her skin age is 16!), but she shares with us that her glow game has never been stronger since including it in her skincare routine. Her words!
She also adds: “The bottle of SK-II Facial Treatment Essence was kind of an hourglass counting down the days to the big day, while at the same time working its magic so that I would celebrate with my best skin ever.” Now, wouldn’t you want any big day — whether it’s a wedding, or first date, or a major celebration — to work out just as nicely too?
Here, the singer shares more on how she conceptualised her song Body Language, as well as her journey with SK-II’s signature Facial Treatment Essence:

Hi Tabitha, can you tell us more about your single “Body Language”? How would you describe the song, and what inspired it?
Body Language is about being confident in your skin and being comfortable with your sexuality. It’s a pretty taboo topic even now, especially if you’re a woman. There’s still so much negativity around women celebrating their sexual strength and I just wanted to make a track that women would feel good listening to and would embrace.
How involved were you throughout the creation of this song? What are you especially proud of?
What a lot of people don’t know is that the track originally didn’t sound anything like what we’re hearing now, there is an entirely different version of Body Language floating around somewhere.
When SonaOne joined the project, we basically re-produced Body Language to give it more of a R&B/pop/dance vibe, which worked out perfectly with his rap verse. I’m a huge fan of outros/b parts, so we worked together on the dreamy outro that you hear on Body Language, which is my favourite part of the song.

How was it like working together with SonaOne, from the conception of it to the studio session?
SonaOne is such an amazing positive energy to have around and he’s extremely talented. I think one of the best things about having him onboard was that it was so easy for him to come up with new ideas and new ways of going about the track. We haven’t actually been in the studio together because we created this track by emailing back and forth, but I would love to actually get some studio time with him soon.

What do you think of SK-II’s #OneBottleAwayFrom campaign – what does it mean to you?
As an artiste, career milestones really mean a lot as each of them take a lot of time and hard work to achieve. The #OneBottleAwayFrom campaign was a great motivator while I was working toward my second single, Body Language. The bottle of SK-II Facial Treatment Essence was kind of an hourglass counting down the days to the big day, while at the same time working its magic so that I would celebrate with my best skin ever. It has been a very fulfilling journey, and now I’m on my second bottle, as I’m working toward my next milestone!
Why is having good skin important to you when you’re taking this important a step in your music career?
Just like having a good hair day, good skin makes you feel good! With the release of Body Language, I’ve got to have my game face on as I step back into the spotlight to promote the single. Thanks to my religious use of the Facial Treatment Essence, my skin has never been better!
What’s your typical skincare routine like?
My skincare routine’s really simple – first, I give my skin a good cleanse and a thorough wipe with a gentle toner. I pat on the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence for a clean, moisturised base, and depending on if it’s my morning or night routine, I switch between a light, airy moisturiser or a thicker night cream to keep the hydration and skin nutrients locked in.
How is the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence different from other skincare items you’ve tried?
It’s really a secret multi-tasker! I generally try to keep my skincare simple, and so I wasn’t sure about adding a beauty essence as an additional step, but I’ve since been converted. It not only hydrates and nourishes my skin, but it also helps my skin better absorb my moisturizer, so I make the best out of my skincare.
How did your skin look or feel after trying it out regularly?
I’ve been using it for over a month now and it’s truly taken my skin to the next level – even without highlighter, my glow game is still strong! I wake up in the mornings feeling great with radiant, clear skin.

Would you recommend it to others?
I’ve shared about the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence with my girlfriends Sandra (from The Sam Willows) and Min (Min G) and they’ve been on this #OneBottleAwayFrom journey with me as well, working hard to achieve their own personal milestones while journeying towards crystal clear skin. They’ll be completing their own challenges really soon so keep your eyes peeled for that!
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who’s looking for a great multitasking skincare solution.
We heard you did the Magic Ring test and that your ‘skin age’ is 16! What was your reaction when you heard that, and do you think it’s a matter of good genes?
I was really surprised when I saw the result, because people generally think I’m older than I really am. But I’m not gonna lie, I bragged about it for days to anyone who would listen! [laughs] Truth be told, I have been blessed with good skin (thanks Mom!) but long hours, frequent travel, and even stage makeup will take its toll. Even with good genes, you can’t escape the occasional break out and skin dullness, so good skincare is really important to maintain what your good genes have given you.
Do you have any special tips on using the Facial Treatment Essence?
I’m a night owl, so it’s really hard for me to fall asleep early even if I have an early call the next morning. Whenever I don’t get enough sleep the night before, I soak a few cotton pads with the Facial Treatment Essence and leave them on my eyes and the high points of my face for a couple of minutes to help hydrate and plump those areas, for an instant glow!
