Uniqlo has been hitting many home runs these past few months. From their latest high-end designer collaboration with J.W. Anderson, to the most recent instalment of their now biannual series Uniqlo U, customers just can’t seem to get enough of their crazy good basics. And while Uniqlo has always been about pairing classic silhouettes with quality fabrics that remain stylish forever, their UT ranges have been more buzz-worthy and pop-culture oriented. In fact, a new launch is on the way…
Is anyone excited about the idea of a sequel to 2016 Kaws x Peanuts UT collection?
The debut collection last year was met with roaring success. Brooklyn-based designer Kaws, who worked on craftily embossing Snoopy and his friends from the Charlie Brown cartoon onto Uniqlo’s comfortable t-shirts and hoodies, presented a tasteful sense of nostalgia and modernity in his clothes. Kaws, clearly a devotee of Snoopy, previously dealt with the subject in his artistic endeavours and is thus clearly a relevant candidate for representing this iconic character. This new collection is set to reinterpret the je ne sais quoi of its past ranges in an all black-and-white colourway that feels more reminiscent of Kaw’s life in New York.
One standout feature of this new collection is the introduction of a womenswear line. With pretty much matching pieces across the men’s, kids and now womenswear, all couples and families are hereby invited to join in the fun of donning their favourite Kaws x Peanuts UT collection outfits.
Collectors alert! Snoopy plush toys with Kaw’s signature cross-out eye detail using fabric handpicked by the designer himself will be also made available for purchase. But make sure to jot down the release date for these items, which if the past is any indicator is an important one to remember — they have previously sold out everywhere almost immediately.
The 12-piece line with a price range of S$14.90 to S$49.90 will include t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts and the collectible plush toys in two sizes, available in-stores and online from Friday, 24 November.
