Fred Perry & X-Mini Team Up to Launch Pocket-Friendly Speaker

The fashion and tech industries are like oil and water. Runways and gadgets just don’t mix. Well, in most cases anyway. When they do collide, you can expect the results to be nothing short of spectacular, which is what happened when Fred Perry announced its rather surprising partnership with local audio brand X-mini.

The companies have jointly launched what is possibly this year’s sleekest looking portable Bluetooth speaker – the KAI X1 Fred Perry Edition. Palm-sized, pocket-friendly, and glazed over with a gorgeous monochrome coating, this petite device has a full frequency audio range, as well as a pretty decent playback of six hours of battery life.

Its perforated top is embellished with Fred Perry’s trademark Laurel Wreath – a logo that has symbolised many a subculture in the past, like the Mods, Suedeheads, Punks, and Rudeboys; while attached to the speaker is a short cord, which will come in handy for slipping around your wrist.

The speaker is not going to come cheap though. The only way to score the KAI X1 Fred Perry Edition is to spend a minimum of $400 in a single receipt at Fred Perry’s ION Orchard, Cathay Cineleisure Orchard, or Bugis Junction stores. If you don’t mind settling for the original speaker without the Fred Perry logo, however, you can get it for $68 via x-mini.com.
