USS to Illuminate Christmas Once Again with New Shows, Displays, and Fireworks

You better watch out. You better not cry. Universal Studios Singapore (USS) will once again usher in Christmas with yet another extravagant display from Dec 1 to Jan 1 2018 at “A Universal Christmas”, with musical performances, multimedia light shows, fireworks, and a ginormous X’mas tree for visitors to look forward to.

Last year’s event – which was a spectacular visual feast for the senses, actually set a Guinness World Record for the world’s largest light bulb display in an indoor venue, with a mind-boggling total of 824,961 light bulbs used. And you can pretty much expect more of the same this year.

New shows include a “World of Stars” at the New York Zone, with gorgeous special effects, projection mapping, and snowfall, while “Santa’s Snowy Sleigh Ride” and “Santa’s Christmas Tree House” will feature Santa Claus, as well as characters like Charlie Chaplin, Gru, and Despicable Me Minions hanging around a 15-metre tall tree.

There’ll also be the touching narrative of how Sesame Street’s Oscar transforms from a true Christmas grouch to the holiday’s number one fan, with appearances from Elmo, Cookie Monster in this lighthearted musical that’s sure to warm the heart and please the kids.

And the fun doesn’t stop there. Belt out classic Christmas tunes at Mel’s Rockin’ Christmas show, or put on those dancing shoes and groove along with Madagascar’s zoosters Alex and Gloria at King Julien’s Tropical Christmas Party.

At the end of the day though, it’s all about the lights here. It’s not often you get to walk around in a lit-up, fantasy world that’s straight out of a fairytale – with theme park rides to boot. And judging from last year’s brilliant kaleidoscopic display, we think we’re in good hands.
A Universal Christmas is included with regular admission to USS. Singapore citizens can enjoy tickets at $72 (U.P. $76) with a complimentary $5 retail voucher. Guests entering the park after 5pm will enjoy discounted admission at $55 (adult), $50 (child), and $98 (1 adult and 1 child).
