We’re always enamoured by the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show for a couple of reasons: the Angels, the music, and the incredibly spectacular costumes (they’re definitely not outfits) that get featured on the runway. This year especially, we’re super psyched about it — not just because it’s barely a week away — thanks to Oliver Rousteing, the creative director of luxury house Balmain with cheekbones and a jawline for the gods. The fashion designer has been working on a capsule collection for Victoria Secret in the past few months, and from what we’re seeing from his stint at Balmain, this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show can only be headed towards an aesthetic which screams bling and ferocity.
Rousteing has always been at the forefront of female empowerment, from his sartorial manifestations down to his tight friendships with It Girls of the industry. His signature structured blazers with gold embellishments at Balmain have been a cult favourite by the #BalmainArmy, and his collaboration with brands like H&M and L’OrĂ©al have thwarted him into mainstream consciousness. And while Victoria’s Secret has never been perceived as a “fashion” fashion brand, their choice this year to team up with Rousteing is just a yes yes yes!
Rousteing has featured VS including Angels Alessandra Ambrosio, Elsa Hosk, and Josephine Skriver on his own catwalk, reflecting the similarity between the two brands’ values. Above all else, his exclusive circle of girlfriends have us swooning with envy. Just look at the interaction between Rousteing and Adriana Lima, one of his VS Angels pals.
The #VSxBalmain capsule collection will be featured on the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2017 on 28 November 2017, and you will be able to shop it on from 29 November 2017.
