If shoe making were a talent competition, adidas would come out on top each time. The German sportswear brand been on fire in 2017, churning out hit after hit, from the new UltraBOOST ATR kicks that’ll keep your feet warm and toasty in any weather, to the exclusive collab between Chanel and Pharrell’s iconic Hu NMDs.
This time, however, sneaker-heads can look forward to a completely new silhouette that promises to take the footwear world by storm. Everyone, feast your eyes on the brand new adidas Originals Prophere.
Described by the company as having a “style designed to challenge the norm”, the Prophere has a distinct look that is quite unlike adidas’ previous product releases. It has a bold sculpted midsole, as well as a fat 3-stripe mark branding that forms the lacing system, and a raw-edge leather heel cage.
All this is complemented with a one-piece black, soft knit upper construction, so you can expect your feet to feel as snug as a chubby cat cuddling on a couch.
“With Prophere we wanted to take a different view of our archive and looked to the unapologetic aesthetic of the 90s, when the brand experimented with bold silhouettes. We took the provocative and uncompromising thinking of the era and reimagined it for today,” said Nic Galway, adidas Originals SVP of Global Design.
“With this silhouette, we connect the same energy of the nineties with the new generation.”
New generation or not, the Prophere is stylish as hell, and you can cop a pair for $200 at select adidas Originals stores and other retailers like Limited Edt, Pedder on Scotts, Seek Official, Trendz, The Social Foot, AW LAB, and online via adidas’ website from Dec 15.
