Apple has had a great year. From releasing the iPhone X to topping the list of donors for (RED) – an organization that funds AIDS victims, 2017 has been kind to the tech giant. And things have been rosy in the entertainment department too. Well, at least according to Apple.
In a press release, Apple revealed that the four breakout trends for 2017 was the introduction of Augmented Reality (AR) apps and games, the rise of real-time competitive gaming, apps focused on mental health and mindfulness, and apps that revolved around storytelling and reading.
AR, especially, played a huge role, whether developed apps were geared towards children (My Very Hungry Caterpillar AR comes to mind), or delved in the traditional gaming sphere. 2017 also saw more Apple users wanting to chill out, as mental health and mindfulness apps grew in popularity, like Bloom and Zen Studio.
In terms of Apple Music, Ed Sheeran ruled the roost with both album of the year and top song, while Bruno Mars came in second, with a strong showing from K-pop artists like BIGBANG and G Dragon. As for movies, top flicks included Moana, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Wonder Woman.
