Fact: everybody loves RuPaul’s Drag Race.
The series just announced the cast for it’s All Stars Season 3, following a monumental nine-year stint on American cable TV, drag queens Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova of YouTube series UNHhhh just bagged a regular role on The Trixie and Katya Show on Viceland, and creator himself RuPaul just won the Critics’ Choice Television Award For Best Reality Show Host.
Clearly what was pitched as a niche programme aimed to generate a loyal cult following’s not justifiable for its obvious culture-shifting abilities, because on top of all the accolades the show has received, Piyarat Kaljareuk of production company Katana Group Public Ltd Co. just announced a series spinoff happening in the Land of Smiles, RuPaul’s Drag Race Thailand!!!
Just between us squirrel-friends, we can’t express how excited we are for this! Not only is Thailand home to the cosiest glamping haunts and ground-shaking music festivals, it’s also known for it’s delicious street food, endless shopping options and… exuberant after-hours fun. Of course Singapore would be our pick if we were on the board deciding where next to expand the series, but Thailand’s just a few-hours flight away — who knows, a few seasons down we might get nation-pride Kumar or Becca D’Bus a coveted spot as contestants…?
Besides announcing the cast for the premiere season of RuPaul’s Drag Race Thailand, no further information of the show’s format or teases have dropped yet. Of course, we can only hope for the more of the same wildly comical bickering, glamorous sashaying, and more next-level childish catchphrases to add to our library.
So here’s the pioneer batch of contestants on RuPaul’s Drag Race Thailand: “Gentlemen, start your engines; and may the best woman win!”
