This Beer is Made For Drinking in the Shower and Can Condition Your Hair

There is a constant factor in routines all over the world before a night out: the cracking open of an ice-cold beer. Pre-gaming has always been, and will always be one of the best ways to start a night, and the earlier it’s done, the better. Sad thing then that the shower – an absolutely necessary activity, always get in the way.
There is but one solution. Drinking while you get that bath on. Though it must be said that that’s not always the best way to enjoy your booze (or to get clean for that matter). Enter Swedish craft brewery PangPang’s and creative agency Snask’s new drink that promises to revolutionise both drinking and showering sessions – the more than appropriately named “Shower Beer”.

A sweet and strong pale ale that comes in a neat 18 cl bottle with a strength of 10% ABV, the Shower Beer is designed specifically for consuming in the shower. Instead of downing one long can of your favourite Carlsberg or Asahi brew, where the situation of warm beer becomes inevitable, the Shower Beer can be finished in three quick gulps.
But an immediate hit of potent booze isn’t the only benefit. The Shower Beer amazingly doubles up as a hair conditioner too (yes, that’s freaking right)! Founder Fredrik Tunedal actually designed the recipe to be beneficial for a person’s hair, but despite that convenience, we think we’ll be sticking to our regular hair care products, thank you very much.

So what was the inspiration behind this heavenly beverage? Tunedal told Munchies, “Looking through the hashtag #showerbeer, it’s easy to see that people all over the world love that feeling of a hot shower and an ice cold beer. I just wanted to try to optimise the experience by trying to customise a brew for this glorious occasion.”
But the important question is; what does it taste like? What kind of beer could handle the dual properties of both beer and hair conditioner? Well, according to Tunedal, the beer is “heavily hopped with Citra”, and has a “citrusy, soapy, and somewhat herbal profile” – a smorgasbord of weirdly contrasting characteristics if there were any.

If you like to try this baby out, tough luck buddy. The beer was unfortunately only produced for the Swedish market. However, after selling out its first batch, the creators are looking for distributors outside Scandinavia so that the brew can eventually be sold worldwide.
So, there’s still hope at the end of the tunnel. The day where you can chug beer and wash yourself at the same time could be coming sooner than you know. Now, where’s that six-pack?
