This Exhibition Brings Together The Best Of Singapore's Pop Art

If doesn’t really matter if you aren’t that into pop culture per se; you’ll still be able to recognise icons from modern life here and there in this latest exhibition, Instant Fame. The tongue-in-cheek artworks are a hilarious poke at all our current consumerist and capitalistic ways and the ridiculously unhealthy obsessions we have with pop icons, logos and celebrities. Don’t believe me? Just think back to the ridiculous queues for the Supreme x Louis Vuitton collaboration, anything Hello Kitty related, and even for discount stores like Don Don Donki where people queue up for over an hour for sweet potatoes.
The current lineup sees Singapore-based artists Billy Ma, Stefanie Hauger, Leo Liu Xuanqi, Andre Tan, Justin Lee, TR853-1 (read as Traceone), and Iskander Walen as they put together some of their best pop artworks for Instant Fame. This is probably the first major pop art exhibition in Singapore by Singaporean artists, and the artworks are actually quite legit. We can totally see them appearing on our Instagram stories. From paintings to sculptures to prints, you’ll be bombarded by tons of art like you’ve never seen it before.

Just like what the name suggests, you’ll instantly be able to recognise most of the icons in the artworks even if you couldn’t name them. Get your cameras ready, because you won’t want to forget this exhibition anytime soon.

Here’s our favourite one yet, aptly titled Statue Of Bigotry and featuring the one and only person who majority of the internet considers the epitome of bigotry.
