This is What First Class Looks Like on Emirates

Luxury is in the air – quite literally. Yep, we’re talking about first class airplane cabins over here. While the vast majority of human beings can only afford to squeeze like sardines on economy, with crying babies a pain and packaged peanuts scant consolation, Emirates has just unveiled its swanky new range of first class cabins.
And by swanky, we mean insane. And by insane, we mean that unless you’re filthy rich and living in a different financial bubble from the rest of the world, you’re going to blow a significant portion of your savings on a single flight with these new cabins.
Casey Neistat, famed YouTuber, actually ran a very entertaining vlog review on the new cabins, which you can view below:

Dubbing it the “all time greatest airplane seat”, Neistat tests out a whole lot of features in the video, which in all honesty are extremely unnecessary, but because rich people can afford it, it’s got to be there. A video call to the sky attendant is one fine example – face-to-face service going full on digital, eh?
Made in collaboration with Mercedes Benz, each suite has a NASA-inspired seat that doubles as a bed when reclined completely, a 32-inch HD screen, the ability to control lighting and temperature, on-demand gourmet dining, and “virtual windows” with cameras fitted outside to showcase gorgeous aerial views.
There’s even so much legroom that an 8-foot person would struggle to fill it up.

A single trip on these first class cabins would cost approximately US$5,500, so it fits into the “break the bank category”. Question is, is it worth the money? That’s subjective, but we’d rather splash the cash on a long-haul vacation, especially to Instagram-worthy destinations.
What do you think of Emirates’ new first class cabins? Are they nicer than Singapore Airlines’ new hotel-like suites? Or are they the aviation industry’s gold standard? Let us know in the comment section below.
