Next up to drop from the adidas Originals x Dragonball Z collection is two classic silhouettes inspired by another hero and villain duo. And we know that you’re as excited as we for the next duo of shoes, so here is a detailed look at round 2: Gohan and Cell.
We’re quite amazed at all details in the shoes- can you spot all the references?
Son Gohan, Goku’s oldest son, gets his own shoe. The Deerupt gets a striking purple makeover to match Gohan’s gi, with bright purple mesh and shoelaces. The shoes are also accented with yellow stitching, the Japanese character and a pastel yellow panel along the inner midsole – because of Gohan’s glowing blonde hair.
And here is the box that the Deerupt “Son Gohan” kicks will be housed in.
Over on the villain side, Cell, takes on the adidas Prophere. Cell’s original designer has revealed in an interview that the villain is incredibly taxing to draw because of his spots and detailed construction, and the same level of detail is obvious in his shoes. The chunky shoe sees a scaly green and purple colour knit mesh on the shoes’ uppers pays homage to Cell’s body. A textured white midsole and pinkish outsole cap balance out the shoes for an colourfully contrasting shoe, with the signature three stripes in green along the midsole.
And the box:
True fans of the popular anime series should be looking to cop the entire collection from adidas, which has 7 pairs of shoes in total. When you stack all 7 boxes on top of each other, the sides of the boxes will line up to reveal a singular back cover design featuring Goku and his posse – just like how the spines of manga magazines line up to create a tapestry-like image. How cool is that going to look displayed next to your manga collection?
The ZX 500 RM “Son Goku” and Yung-1 “Freiza” were released earlier in September, and the remaining pairs – EQT Support ADV Primeknit “Shenron”, Kamanda “Majin Buu” and Ultra Tech “Vegeta” are slated for release in November and December.
The Deerupt “Son Gohan” retails at $180 and the Prophere “Cell” retails at $260, and will be available for purchase from 26 October 2018 at adidas Originals Pacific Plaza, adidas VivoCity, and online.
