Although we’re just about two months into the start of the new year, we’ve already been treated with a line-up of exciting tech gadgets from some of the industry’s biggest names.
Hoping to stir up more anticipation for the tech market of 2020 is Huawei, who recently hosted a virtual launch in Barcelona, Spain, where they announced their latest series of new 5G products which includes their flagship 5G tablet — the Huawei MatePad Pro 5G.
Here’s a closer look at the three exciting new Huawei products to hit the markets in 2020:
HUAWEI MATE XS
Building on the concept of the critically acclaimed Huawei Mate X, the all-new Huawei Mate Xs will represent the next evolution of foldable smartphones that features the Kirin 990 5G SoC and an improved Falcon Wing Design which delivers a powerful performance and a seamless user experience. When folded, the Huawei Mate Xs is a powerful dual-screen smartphone with a 6.6-inch main screen and a 6.38-inch secondary screen. When unfolded, the Huawei Mate Xs aims to deliver a true FullView experience with its 8-inch outwards-folding display that is enabled by the new mechanical hinge design.
Made with a zirconium-based liquid metal, the upgraded hinge can now facilitate a full 180-degrees fold, making it more durable than before. The flexible, foldable display features an innovative two-layer polymer structure manufactured using a Huawei-pioneered technique that allows the highly-durable display to produce great image quality, colour saturation, and brightness.
Powered by Huawei’s most advanced chipset — the Kirin 990 5G Soc — you’ll get an integrated 5G modem which allows for the Mate Xs to deliver powerful 5G connectivity (while still supporting 2G, 3G, and 4G) with better efficiency and lower heat output.
The all-new smartphone also continues to present users with the best in cameras using their flagship SuperSensing Leica Quad Camera system. Located in a vertical array along the sidebar, the system features a 40MP main camera (wide-angle, f/1.8), a 16MP ultra-wide-angle camera (f/2.2), 8MP telephoto camera (f/2.4, OIS), and 3D Depth Sensing Camera. It also supports a combination of OIS and AI Image Stabilisation for super steady shots and capturing incredible photos in low light environments.
The Huawei Mate Xs is expected to be available in Singapore in March 2020. Pricing to be announced at a later date.
HUAWEI MATEPAD PRO 5G
In an effort to surpass the current expectation of a tablet, Huawei is set to deliver a flagship-level 5G tablet experience that will change the way common tablet users view their device. Engineered using the latest Kirin 990 5G SoC, the Huawei MatePad Pro 5G delivers enhanced performance and power efficiency for tasks such as gaming or watching videos.
It also supports both non-standalone (NSA) and standalone (SA) architectures and TDD/FDD full frequency bands which enables the tablet to accommodate diverse networks and networking modes to enjoy high-speed 5G connectivity even when you’re travelling overseas! No need to worry about overheating as the tablet is supported by the industry’s first ultra-thick 3D graphene cooling system that synergises with AI for heat management which allows your tablet to remain cool even when it’s performing at maximum capacity.
With a minimalist design, the Huawei MatePad Pro 5G combines the brand’s signature FullView Display in a 10.8-inch, 16:10 display with ultra-narrow 4.9mm bezels to achieve the world’s highest tablet screen-to-body ratio at 90%. Capable of fully displaying a 2K QHD (2560 x 1600) resolution, the tablet also comes with a high-amplitude quad-channel stereo quad-speaker tuned by Harman Kardon that guarantees an audio and visual experience that can rival home theatre setups in a durable, handheld device.
The Huawei MatePad Pro 5G can also be connected to other Huawei devices through the Huawei Share Multi-Screen Collaboration feature. The connection allows users to navigate and control both devices on the tablet’s display as well as enable drag-and-drop file transfers between the devices.
The Huawei MatePad Pro 5G will be available in Forest Green and Orange. Pricing and availability to be announced at a later date.
HUAWEI MATEBOOK X PRO
Though not entirely new, the Huawei MateBook X Pro is getting an upgrade with 10th Gen Intel Core processors and a new Emerald Green colour option.
Similar to the design from last year, the reinvented Huawei MateBook X Pro comes with a 13.9-inch edge-to-edge display which retains the FullView Display to achieve a screen-to-body ratio of 91%. The screen also doubles as a 10-point touchscreen that is made with ultra-thin Corning Gorilla glass and an anti-fingerprint coating which allows you to navigate freely, smoothly and accurately with the touch of a finger.
The MateBook X Pro comes built with a Dolby Atmos Sound System which delivers rich, crisp sound effects from all angles and minimises distortion to create an immersive 3D sound system especially when you are watching a movie. It also features a one-touch power button with an optimised fingerprint scanner to provide a safe, fast and user-friendly way to start up your laptop as well as a handy pop-up webcam that is built into the keyboard to safeguard your privacy.
The revamped Huawei MateBook X Pro will be available in Emerald Green, Space Grey, and Mystic Silver. Pricing and availability to be announced at a later date.
