Apple Watch first introduced their Pride Edition in 2016, and today, on International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (IDAHOT), they debut a new Apple Watch Pride Edition band and dynamic watch face. These incorporate a broader set of colours inspired by multiple Pride flags that have represented the diverse LGBTQ+ community, and look how gorgeous they are:
The original rainbow colours are weaved together with other shades drawn from various Pride flags, and include black and brown that symbolise Black and Latinx communities, as well as those who have passed away from or are living with HIV/AIDS; and light blue, pink, and white that represent transgender and nonbinary individuals.
There’s also an update to the Nike Sport Loop Pride Edition; this year’s design showcases the traditional rainbow colours, utilising reflective yarn for better visibility for those engaging in outdoor workouts. Take a look:
Also, with this new launch, Apple builds on their long-running financial support of LGBTQ+ advocacy organisations that work to bring about positive changes. These include Encircle, Equality North Carolina, Equality Texas, Gender Spectrum, GLSEN, Human Rights Campaign, National Center for Transgender Equality, PFLAG National, SMYAL, and The Trevor Project in the US, as well as ILGA World.
The Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop is $149.00 and the Pride Edition Nike Sport Loop is $69.00. Shop at apple.com.
