For all of Disney’s tales of hope and enchantment, there are a handful of hallmark villains that really shook us to the core back when we were still young and impressionable — Scar’s turn as an evil uncle, Ursula’s gleeful trickery, and of course, Cruella de Vil and her menacing sneer. Scary stuff.
With Disney’s upcoming release of the live-action film Cruella on 28 May though, we’re invited to reassess our fears, and you know what, Cruella’s quite the fabulous style maven isn’t she? Her signature bright red lipstick and two-toned hair are undeniably chic, and we’re starting to admire that unapologetic attitude of hers too. So this M.A.C Cosmetics collaboration couldn’t have come at a better time — the makeup brand is here to channel her glamorous, rebellious vibe, with a collection of nine products that celebrate the film’s release.
Enter Disney’s Cruella Collection by M·A·C. Similar to the film’s on-screen looks, this takes on the fashion icon with a 70s Punk and New Wave twist, complete with bright reds and metallic hues that are packaged in the most apt two-toned packaging. We’re expecting high-glam here, and M.A.C delivers that with a whole lot of attitude.
For the eyes, an 8-pan eyeshadow palette, Cruella To Be Kind, sees hues of silver, blue, and black in finishes such as matte, satin, and frost, all cool-toned shades perfect for a deep smokey eye. You can even disconnect the palette into four separate parts of two shades each, for use on-the-go.
A special-edition Dual-Ended Pro Longwear Eye Liner can also be found here, in black and white obviously, where we’re encouraged to use the bright white shade to line our lower lash line or on the inner corner of our eyes.
Then, there’s a Powder Blush Duo that also mimics the two-tone inspiration, this time with a bright pink hue and a neutral shimmery peach on each side. While initially intimidating, the shocking pink can be blended onto your cheeks for a more subtle flush — preferably using the two-toned Face Brush — while the peach acts as a dewy highlight.
For the lips, we’re blessed with both the creamy Matte Lipstick and the high-impact Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour, in a total of six shades that range includes a light pink, bright red, and a deep blood red that nails Cruella’s sinister intensity.
Here’s everything from the collection:
